The Abu Dhabi Quality & Conformity Council (AD QCC) and the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi have confirmed their participation in the 6th edition of the World IEQ Forum, on March 16 at the Sweden Pavilion of the World Expo in Dubai. Dr Simon Miller, Government Regulatory Research and Impact Analysis Specialist, will represent AD QCC, whereas Dr Jens Thomsen is Section Head, Environmental Health, at the Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Department (OEHSD) within the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC/DoH).
Produced by CPI Industry, publishers of Climate Control Middle East magazine, the World IEQ Forum is a mission-critical conference that brings together policymakers; regulators; civil, structural and MEP disciplines; architects; healthcare professionals; and building owners in aviation, education, healthcare, hospitality, retail and other sectors. It typically addresses a broad sweep of Indoor Environmental Quality issues, but the 6th edition, to be held against the menacing backdrop of the pandemic, will seek to specifically address IAQ issues with a view to advancing the understanding of design, installation and O&M strategies and solutions in the built-environment.
Dr Miller has led the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Government’s product conformity assessment services, including the mechanisms by which the Government determines the impact of conformity assessment on the quality, safety and performance for products in the Emirate. His work in pioneering the services and systems of assessment in a broad range of product fields relevant to public health, infrastructure, sustainability and emerging technologies is ensuring the quality of thousands of products from hundreds of companies throughout the GCC region. Dr Miller holds a Bachelor of Science and a PhD in Microbial Genetics.
Dr Thomsen holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, Atlanta, in the United States. He is also a physician, holding an MD degree from the University of Ulm, in Germany, and is board certified in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Dr. Thomsen has 25+ years of professional experience in clinical medicine and public health, with a focus on environmental health, epidemiology, occupational health and safety, injury surveillance and prevention, as well as clinical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance and infection control.
“It’s a privilege and honour to welcome Dr Miller and Dr Thomsen as speakers at the World IEQ Forum,” said Surendar Balakrishnan, Co-Founder & Editorial Director, CPI Industry. “Their unique areas of expertise in product conformity assessment services related to public health, and to epidemiology and infection control, respectively, are certain to add more dimensions to the discussion on Indoor Air Quality in the context of the pandemic.”
To date, the 6th edition of the World IEQ Forum has attracted confirmation of participation from a galaxy of prominent GCC region-level and international speakers. It is co-hosted by Systemair and will see participation from ASHRAE, Eurovent Middle East, Camfil and Condair, amongst others.
